Sunday was scheduled for touring the east side of the Cape. We started early and had breakfast in Chatham. I ate eggs benedict at a table with an ocean view. Then we went down to the seaside and found that people just took their shoes off and left them on the side of the stairway that leads down to the beach.
This little tyke was concentrating on building a sand fort for his toy super heros :)
I took my shoes off too and walked along the shore...picking up seashells and wading in the surf.
After leaving Chatham we drove up the coast heading to Provincetown. The Nauset lighthouse is so pretty. I got a nice shot of it. Again, the weather was perfect!
Arriving in Privincetown and decided to find the Lobstr Pot - a restaurant that had been recommended to us. It was a little past lunchtime and I'd eaten a big breakfast so I just had hot tea and a dessert - pineapple upside down cake with coconut ice cream..... mmmmmmmmmm
Then we toured the Pilgrim Monument and museum. Beautiful! Here is a shot of the monument - looking up... a shot of the view from up there out onto Cape Cod Bay and a marker set in the ground just before you walk up the stairs to the monument itself.
We did some shopping in Provincetown then started back. There is a winery in Truro that we'd passed on the way up. We stopped there before going back to tour the opposite coast - I bought a bottle to serve my guests this Christmas eve. Its in a bottle shaped like a lighthouse and its a cranberry blend that will fit right into the holidays.
By the time we neared out hotel the sun was setting and I got beautiful sunset pictures. I cannot comment enough on the beautiful weather Father gave us for this respite.
By the time we got back to W. Yarmouth, it was dark. We stopped at a restaurant called "Olivers" where I had a martini followed by a bowl of Clam Chowder with crusty rolls. Delicious! I slept well that night after all the exercise during the day.
